Self-Directed Project: STRAWDY

STRAWDY (Straw Lady) depicts what life of a plastic straw would look like.

In 2019, I decided to minimize the use of single-use plastic straws and bottles which resulted in a drawer full of plastic straws.

Since COVID-19 encouraged social distancing, I decided to use straws as my models instead of a human. Through this, not only could I experiment with different lights and angles, but also got a chance to create something distinctive.

While this photo series is a light everyday life of a straw, I hope to gain the attention of people and remind them to get involved in eliminating plastic straws usage from their lifestyle to reduce plastic pollution. STRAWDY also has some hidden but straight-forward life advice
